Weekend media festival
In almost every field and profession the area of Eastern Europe has always been known for falling behind and somehow having hard time following trends. In a public relation and new media profession, this gap has been especially visible and it took many years for public, firms and potential clients even to consider public realtions as a real business. Becouse of the ignorance torwards this vocation it was almost imposible for many years to gather people from the whole area to share ideas and contacts, talk about new trends and essentialy to create a whole public realtions scene.
In a last couple of years appeared more and more events that gather firms which then discuss important questions from the world of media, but the pionir, the event that was first to do that in this part of Europe is deffinitely Weekend media festival. Weekend media festival is a media festival that was first time held in 2008. in Rovinj, and few days ago announced its nineth edition in the same place, at the same time. The Pepermint Agentcy from Zagreb, with Tomo Ricov and Boris Kovaček as its directors and the people who initialy got the idea for the event, has since 2008. grown to became a ‘factory’ of the most visited events in the industry.
The main idea, which has not changed since the begining is that the last weekend of summer (other half of September) has to be reserved for everyone hired in media field so they would come to Rovinj to listen to exciting lectures from their fellow experts, learn something about the trends in industry, share contacts but also to have fun and experience some of the best parties in the year.
Every year brings new experts such as Pete Radovich, the man behind Super Bowl, Viral Brothers- Check YouTube bloggers with millions of followers on their account, Colin Jacson, British athlete and the most important person behind global project Wings for life World Run and so much more.
For now the organizers have only announced the event and set the date of this years Weekend Media Festival, but for the speakers and whole programme we’ll have to wait. There is no doubt that this year won’t bring new surprises.
